INFO PRU15 Goes Live: Lembah Pantai, Larut, Gombak and Indera Mahkota Among 20 Hotseats

The announced candidate race tracking by KUASA ( last Monday (April 14) is live now.

We welcome you to peruse it.

Among the speculations in brief (For fuller analysis please refer to the website):

Pagoh: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's seat is not safe. The 50,000 plus voters have to tough choice to make. He likely face Umno Pagoh Chief Ismail Mohamed again, but under very different circumstances. Both Pakatan and Umno voters will oppose him and his 6,000 plus majority may disappear quickly.

Gombak: There is no reason why PKR will not use Selangor Menteri Besar Amiruddin Shari to defeat incumbent International Trade and Industry Minister Azmin Ali. While Azmin is three term MP, Amiruddin is also three term assemblyman for Sungai Tua (formerly Batu Caves) which is one of the three state seats inside Gombak parliament.

Lembah Pantai: Fahmi Fadzil is likely to face Umno Lembah Pantai chief Ramlan Askolani. Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin after two failed efforts (2013 and 2018) has stepped aside as Umno division, and therefore a more grassroots leader steps up. However, rumours still swirl about Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Aziz being Bersatu's candidate for the seat.

Titiwangsa: Women and Family Minister Rina Haron might shy away from the seat, and let Deputy Sports and Youth Minister Wan Ahmad Fayshal Wan Ahmad Kamal to duke it out with former finance minister Johari Abdul Ghani. Pakatan would likely allow Amanah to contest the seat.

Larut: Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin is the prized scalp for Umno. Perak Menteri Besar Saarani Mohammad is the acting Umno chief for Larut, after Hamzah left Umno to join Bersatu. Deputy division chief Muhammad Amin Zakaria also two term assemblyman for Batu Kurau (inside Larut) would be the ideal candidate to unseat Hamzah. Umno wants to teach Bersatu a lesson.

Indera Mahkota: A solid PKR seat for three terms disrupted by the departure of Communications and Multimedia Minister Saifuddin Abdullah to Bersatu. Saifuddin will likely defend the seat, but the previous candidates PAS' Nasruddin Hasan and Umno's Johan Mat Sah lay waiting. Whether PAS will give way to either Bersatu or Umno would be critical to decide how the race shapes up. PKR will contest the seat, and probably be tempted to bring back Fauzi Abdul Rahman, the winner in 2013 who had to give way to Saifuddin.

Media can review these and all the other seats in full at the website. The information will be updated periodically.

KUASA endeavours to increase its coverage of the election contests with greater resources. This is the seventh year KUASA has carried out democratic education and outreach work.
